Louis XVI style armchair
This is a Louis XVI style armchair. This style prevailed in the late 18th century. It is characterized by simple lines, geometric shapes and decorations inspired by classical periods (Greece and Rome). It is a complex curve style of Louis XV period. Response. The oval chair back, known as the "Mé daillon", is one of the defining features of the Louis XVI style. The chair legs are straight, tapered, and usually grooved to look like classical pillars. Chairs of this style are still popular today, with antique originals, as well as many modern reproductions and reprints.
